Trailwood Hills - April 5, 2011 Meeting Notes
Following is a summary of the meeting from April 5, 2011 with the Raleigh Police at our annual homeowners' meeting.
Last night at the Trailwood Hills HOA annual meeting, the Raleigh Police Department talked at length about the new Community Police Squad, as well as other concerns regarding our neighborhood. The following officers came to the meeting:
- Captain Patrick Niemann (SW District Commander - Patrick.niemann@raleighnc.gov)
- Lt. Steve Jackson (Captain Niemann's second in command)
- Barbie Upchurch (Crime Prevention Officer)
- Joseph Wilkins (PROP Officer)
- Gerald Takano (Supervisor for Community Police Squads) and
- Dave Naumuk (Community Police Squad for OUR neighborhood - reachable at (919) 996-1387 for non-emergency, community issues).
The Community Police Squad is our contact for all problems in our community, including: rental properties, parking, parties, noise, littering, missing signs, follow-up on 9-1-1 calls, etc. Officer Naumuk is our point of contact with the Raleigh Police and he and others will be working on long-term fixes for the problems that our neighborhood faces regularly. One of the things they plan to start in the fall is meeting with NCSU freshmen and educating them on living in a "family" neighborhood. They also intend to start contacting landlords (especially those of problem residences) and educating them on how to be better landlords.
Captain Niemann also stressed that whenever you call the police for anything, from parking violations to robbery, please call 9-1-1. He could not stress this enough - call 9-1-1. That way the call is logged and there is a record. This is especially important with respect to calls relating to violations that would cause a PROP violation.
